£15,000 was raised for Jersey Cheshire Home at Kitchen Inferno 2014 with Shaun Rankin, and money is still coming in and being counted up. It was a fantastic night and the result was very close. Rob Veron took the title once again and led the Blue Islands Team to Victory. Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin designed the menus for the Freedom Media event, which included some of Ormer’s most technically challenging dishes.
Brian McCarthy, Managing Director, Le Masurier: “Le Masurier was delighted to support Kitchen Inferno for the second year. It was a great night and I very much enjoyed relaxing and eating rather than cooking this time. A considerable sum has once again been raised for Jersey Cheshire Home, which does so much unseen hard work for Islanders.”
The two teams, made up of sixteen novice chefs had just one month to train before the head-to-head cook off in the Highlands Academy Kitchen. Seventy guests and Shaun judged their efforts. Diners were served by the College’s catering students, and LIVE action from the kitchen was broadcast into the restaurant, so every move and mistake was seen!
Jersey Cheshire Home looks after severely disabled adults and costs £5000 per day to run. It relies heavily on local fundraising, as it is only part-funded by the States of Jersey. Over the next two years the Home needs to raise £300,000 to refurbish the hydrotherapy pool.
